The fuel filter housing is an element that protects the fuel filter against mechanical damage and ensures its stable mounting in the fuel system. It is usually a metal or plastic housing that is fitted around the fuel filter and protects it against contamination and external damage. The fuel filter housing may also be equipped with a purge valve or vent that allows air to be removed from the fuel system. The main task of the filter is to clean the fuel from mechanical impurities and organic micro impurities. Fuel filters are divided into two main groups according to their application – we will use a different type of filter for a gasoline engine than for a diesel engine. Irrespective of the type of fuel, the filter material is different types of paper based on polyester or cellulose fibers with added synthetic fibers.
