A sealing ring (also known as a Simmer ring, after the inventor) is usually made of rubber or other plastic materials that meet the required technical specifications. It is used to seal rotating elements of a system, with a maximum internal pressure of up to 0.1 MPa, typically immersed during operation in a bath of lubricants, gasoline, or water. Seals are most commonly used for sealing shafts and the transmission or drive systems of machinery and equipment.
