The fuel shutoff solenoid, also known as the stop solenoid or electromagnetic valve, is one of the most important components of the tractor’s ignition system and is responsible for cutting off the fuel supply to the fuel pump. Its main function is to stop the engine. The shutoff solenoid is an electric device that operates at 12V and is often immersed in oil.
The first signs of a faulty shutoff solenoid include difficulty starting the engine, irregular idling, or jerking during startup. Sometimes, issues with proper solenoid function are caused by a weak or undercharged battery.
