The sealant is a rubber ring (also called simmering, Simmer’s ring, after the name of the inventor), which is most often made of rubber or other plastic that meets the assumed technical requirements. Simering is used to seal rotating elements of a system with a maximum internal pressure of up to 0.1 MPa that are submerged during operation, most often it is a funnel, various types of lubricants and sometimes gasoline or water. The most common use of sealants is to seal shafts and transmission or drive systems of machines and devices. There are different types of seals, the most common are cassette (two-piece) seals, sealing rings with a spring around them or seals with a partly metal casing (cover).
