A seal is most commonly a rubber ring (also called a Simmer ring, named after its inventor), usually made from rubber or another plastic material that meets the required technical standards. A Simmer ring is used to seal rotating elements in a system with a maximum internal pressure of up to 0.1 MPa, and that, during operation, are submerged, most often in a chamber, with different types of grease and sometimes gasoline or water.
